Now Announcing Business Memberships!

We Need Your Support for Trails in Humboldt County!

Our beautiful Redwood Coast is a leading factor in our quality of life…but a very important element is missing - a regional trail and pathway system! We do have some wonderful trails, but they’re scattered and don’t connect. This forces all of us into the road systems and away from the open space and natural places we love to enjoy.

It is the vision of Trails Trust of Humboldt Bay to provide the education, advocacy and community support for the planning and development of a regional trail system. For recreation, active transportation, community connectedness, and wellness, as well as a list of other benefits, Humboldt County needs to catch up with other communities to invest in regional trails and pathways.

Key to this vision is to reach out to like-minded individuals, organizations and businesses to build a coalition of support through membership. For trail planners, developers, and funders community support for trails is vital. They all want to see a broad base of support in the community to begin to consider a trail plan or project. This is where you come in….your membership in the Trail Trust allows us to leverage our collective membership to be a powerful voice in support of trail projects.

The Trails Trust endeavors to capture our community’s high interest in trails and materialize that interest into an informed, inspired, and pro-active membership. Whether you commute, hike, bike, run, paddle, fish, horseback ride, bird watch, or more…the Trails Trust is a about bringing people together under a common community goal: a regional trail system!

For businesses the Trails Trust has member/sponsor opportunities that allow your employees to be members and affords your business visibility as a trail supporter. Attached is some information on our business membership levels that I hope you will consider. Don’t wait another day, act now so we can work together for trails.

And remember, the trail starts here!

Have you ever visited cities like Eugene, Astoria, and Redding and noticed the inviting public trails serving the recreation and transportation needs of walkers, cyclists, skaters, and paddlers?

A group of local citizens feel our region is ready for improved multi-use trail systems and deserves improved walking and bicycling facilities in the Humboldt Bay region – starting with the Eureka waterfront.

The Eureka City Council recently adopted a vision for the Waterfront Trail and Promenade in Eureka. The Eureka Trails Committee created this vision for a contiguous 6.5 mile combination of trail, boardwalk, and promenade from one end of the Eureka waterfront to the other. Eureka's historic wild and working waterfront is a unique and untapped recreational opportunity for our region.

The Trails Trust of Humboldt Bay was formed to promote and encourage the development of multiuse trails in the Humboldt Bay region. The Trail Trust's first effort will be to encourage and support the development of the Elk River Access Project, a portion of the waterfront trail connecting Truesdale Avenue and Herrick Avenue in South Eureka.

The Elk River Access Project will include day use facilities, picnic tables, and a vista point overlooking Humboldt Bay at the foot of Truesdale Avenue. Over one mile of multi-use trail suitable for biking and hiking will be extend south to Herrick Avenue.
